On This Day

This page checks today's calendar date against the incident date recorded for every reconstruction in the archive, and lists any that match, regardless of what year they happened in. Because the archive currently covers fewer than 400 incidents, most days will show few matches, or none, simply because of how much of the historical record has been reconstructed so far. Where nothing from the archive matches today's date, the page falls back to a small set of separately researched aviation anniversaries from the wider historical record, clearly distinguished from archive reconstructions. Dates are read directly from each incident's recorded date, not estimated.
